Is Super Chu-hi available in the New York City area?
I doubt Chu-hi is available in the U.S. — which is really tragic. Wish I’d brought a case back with me. Anyone want to send some my way? Drop a line and I’ll gladly supply a mailing address.

Chu-Hizzles are the best things when it comes to refresments. I was stationed in Okinawa for 12 months. The best (and most cost effective) thing to drink at home is Chu-Hi. Grape by far is the best flavor. I just wish there was a way for the people in the States to enjoy such a thing. I’m back state side now and I’m looking for anyway to find it or have it send back here. If anyone has any good suggestions please let me know. Out
Seriously though, does anyone know a place to get super chu-hi in the US? I’d order from any place, don’t care about the shipping costs. I love the stuff and don’t know that I’m going to get a chance to get back to Japan anytime soon.

I spent 3 years in Japan and I drank Pineapple Chu-hi almost everyday! I could walk into the bar and they knew exactly what I wanted! Now I’m in England, and I have to order Shochu online so I can make my own. Oh how I miss the good old days!!!

I was introduced to Kirin Chu-hi last year on a trip to Japan. I’m back in Nagoya now, and enjoying my second can thats giving me a nice buzz. I’ve looked EVERYWHERE at home for this stuff. I went to a “Mitsua”, the big Japan supermarket (They are across the US), ad I asked for it at there extensive alcohol department, and the lady looked at me like I was asking for a bottle of mad dog at a fine wine shop. Is there a rep for this product in the US at all????

Getting orders to Yokosuka, Japan was the best thing that could ever happen to me! I was introduce to Japan’s most D-licious drink known to mankind…The Chu-Hi! For those of you going to Yokosuka,Japan you need to stop by in this town and head for what is known among the sailors…The Chu-Hi Stand. Thanks Eric,Scott,Tommie,Randy,Josh,Big Worm,Houge,Basher,James,and Popeye for drinking Chu-Hi and getting wasted for every day served in the Navy!! Does anyone know where I can get a Chu-Hi in Los Angeles??
(chu-) hi to you as well! there was an even better grapefruit available this season - in the “sukish” series from takara - i trust you would agree. for the love of god, why are conveniently canned (or bottled - there’s a novel idea!) chu hi cocktails not available ANYWHERE in north amerika? i stumbled upon your awesome site as a result of a google “chu hi” mission. i’ve visited japan 3x, starting in 2001, most recently last month. of course my pathetic (pathetic as in UNREQUITED) lust for prepared chu hai has been a constant since the first sips in march ‘01. i’ve been of the assumption for some time now that there must be a US blockade - perhaps sponsored by beer or other makers who realize the huge potential threat chu hai poses on their share of the beverage mkt. how else to explain why zero of the now very numerous brands/varieties of the canned stuff make it to our shores. and i’ve searched some major j-centers: san francisco, vancouver, nyc. why oh why must we be deprived? another guess - the US doesn’t know how to market the chu-hai concoction - a bit much alchohol for the beer section, yet not a straight-up alcohol to be sold in the liquor store. until justice prevails, take comfort in that at least sho chu is readily sold here.
and on other fronts, i went out to all the mahattan-based j-grocers in search of the awesome grapefruit konnyaku treats that i’d consumed daily in japan (sometimes as a side to my late-morning grapefruit chu hai) then i saw the disturbing headline on BBC: konnyaku jel snacks have been deemed too dangerous and are thereby banned!
what will they take away next?

Just about to leave Japan, and If I could these cans of Chu-hi with me, I would. Father in law, is just going to have to send me some sochu so I can make them myself which is what I have been doing. Takahara is a good brand also if you are interested.

Right now I’m in Japan, looking at your site, and drinking a super chu-hi. You are absolutely right. This stuff is great. It has such a nice crisp taste to it, and it does do the job fairly well. I must admit that this has become the bain of my existence. I love them so much that I honestly would drink them all the time, but the give me such a buzz that I would just live in a state of drunkeness. So to close dido on the chu-hi.
